Hotel Appenberg

The 3-star Hotel Appenberg in Zäziwil is temporarily closed for extensive renovation work and plans to reopen in autumn 2026. After the modernization, 48 hotel rooms and 19 multifunctional seminar and group rooms will be available for companies and private guests, while retaining the charm of the traditional architecture.

The Appenberg brings together twelve predominantly historic buildings from the Emmental and the Bern region, the oldest of which dates back to 1777. These historic buildings are equipped with modern technical facilities and serve as guest rooms, seminar and conference rooms as well as a public restaurant.

The Appenberg hotel and seminar center comprises 38 comfortable single, double and multi-bed rooms, 12 rooms for seminars and banquets as well as a restaurant serving Emmental classics and regional ingredients.

The transfer of knowledge is all the more successful in a positively designed learning environment. The natural surroundings and their atmosphere play a key role in this. With its picturesque landscape, the Emmental provides the perfect backdrop, while the team at the Hotel Appenberg ensures an exceptional atmosphere. Among other things, you can experience an unforgettable seminar in the attic of the old schoolhouse.

All the conference rooms are equipped with modern technical equipment such as projectors, flipcharts and pinboards. In addition, free high-speed WLAN is available throughout the Appenberg area.

Let us spoil you with culinary delights during a seminar, a private celebration or a cozy dinner for two. Wedding celebrations take place in the Schützenstube, in the attic of the old schoolhouse or in the Schulstube, business lunches in the Burestube, in the Sommerlaube or in the Toufistube. The authentic henhouse, pigsty or cowshed is available for a cozy tête-à-tête.

High-quality regional products such as vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, milk and bread are sourced from well-known local suppliers. The wine cellar offers a carefully selected range of wines that go perfectly with the food.

Social program and activities

The supporting program in the Emmental offers a varied selection of activities designed to promote skill, memory and teamwork. Highlights include the Appenberg Tournament with its diverse, combinable activities, LEGO Serious Play, which playfully tackles complex topics such as communication and cooperation, nature time and forest bathing for relaxing moments outdoors, as well as torchlight hikes, cheese dairy tours and brewery tours with tastings. These and other programs offer a unique mix of team building, creative expression and nature experiences.
